What files can I attach to a product?
PDF, CSV, JPG, PNG, DOC and related file types, such as specification sheets, installation guides, manuals, size guides and warranty documents. You can attach files to a whole product or to individual variants, and upload new files or pick from the file library.
Where do the downloads appear?
In a Downloads tab on the product page. If your product pages don't use tabs, place a shortcode instead. The storefront downloads table is accessible to screen-reader users, so customers can find the files they need before and after they buy.
Can I attach different files to different products?
Yes. Each file is attached to the products it belongs to, so customers only see files for the product they are viewing. You can also attach files to individual variants, and pick a file from the library instead of uploading it again.
Who can upload and manage files?
Anyone on your team. Files are uploaded, attached and managed from the dashboard, with unlimited users. The roles are Admin, Manager, and Sales Rep, and the Manage files side sheet lets your team upload, attach, and rename files without leaving the page.
Do I pay per user?
No. Pricing is based on your product count and includes unlimited users. Your whole team can upload and manage files from the dashboard, and there is no limit on how many people you add.
Does it work with my theme and plan?
Yes. Product Downloads works with all BigCommerce templates and plans and installs in one click. If your theme does not use product tabs, place the shortcode where you want the downloads table to appear.
Can I see how often files are downloaded?
Yes. Download stats show a 30-day chart, stat tiles, and a sparkline per product. Product Files is sorted by downloads in the last 30 days, and every column header can be clicked to sort the list a different way.
Can I back up or bulk edit my file attachments?
Yes. You can export every attachment to CSV and re-import it unchanged, which is useful for backups and bulk edits. The export and re-import were added in the 18 September 2026 update.
Can customers using a screen reader use the downloads table?
Yes. The storefront downloads table was made easier to use with a screen reader in the 18 September 2026 update, so customers who use assistive technology can find and open product files.
Can I attach a file to a single variant?
Yes. The Manage files side sheet has per-variant attach chips, so a file can belong to one variant rather than the whole product. Open a product from Product Files, then use the attach switches and chips to choose where each file appears.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Product Downloads has a 7-day free trial. After the trial, pricing is based on your product count and starts from USD 14.99 a month, and it includes unlimited users, so your whole team can manage files.
