Make an Offer
Let customers name their price instead of walking away. Make an Offer adds offer and price match buttons to your product pages, and gives you a queue where every request can be accepted, declined or countered.
Features, pricing and a free trial: Make an Offer for BigCommerce.
Overview
The app runs two related features from one place:
| Feature | What the customer does |
|---|---|
| Make an Offer | Proposes a price for a product, or optionally for their whole cart. You accept it, decline it, or counter with your own figure. |
| Price Match | Tells you they have found it cheaper elsewhere, with a link. You decide whether to match. |
Both land in the same Requests list, so your team works one queue rather than two inboxes. Every request keeps a timeline of what was offered, countered and bought.
Dashboard
Storefront Nothing. The dashboard reports on your offer activity.
The front page, headed Live store overview. It shows the number of requests, Total value, Active value, Completed value and Completion rate, then your most recent offers and quick actions.
Installation
Install the app
Storefront Injects the offer script into your store. Nothing shows until a theme is selected.
Make an Offer installs from the BigCommerce marketplace. Installing connects the app to your store and starts your first product sync. Every install includes a seven-day free trial.
Select your theme
Storefront The Make an Offer and Price Match buttons appear on product pages.
- Open Installation under Configuration.
- Select your store theme and save. The offer buttons appear on your product pages.
- Blueprint stores only: follow the extra steps shown after selecting your theme. Stencil stores are injected automatically.
If your theme is not listed, submit a template request from the Installation page and we will add it.
Make an Offer
How it works on the storefront
Storefront This is the customer-facing part of the app: the button and the offer popup.
A Make an Offer button appears on the product page. The customer enters the price they would pay and their contact details, and the request arrives in your list. Nothing is committed until you respond, so a low offer costs you nothing but a decline.
The popup is one column: the product, its price and the offer amount. On phones it opens as a bottom sheet. It works with a keyboard and keeps focus inside while it is open.
Make an Offer settings
Storefront Changes the button, the popup and what a shopper is allowed to offer.
- Enable Make an Offer.
- The master switch. Off, and the button disappears from your storefront.
- Enable product upload dropzone.
- Lets the shopper attach a file to their offer.
- Show phone number box.
- Adds a phone field to the popup.
- Show stock count next to SKU.
- Shows the stock level beside the SKU in the popup.
- Limit the offer quantity to available stock.
- Shoppers cannot offer on more than you have. It only applies to products whose stock BigCommerce tracks at product level, not per variant or untracked.
- Combine a customer's accepted offers into a single cart.
- Accepted offers waiting on the same email address are checked out together in one cart. The acceptance email gains a second link; the per-offer link stays.
- Show a "Make an offer on your cart" button on the cart page.
- Off by default. Shoppers offer one total for everything in their basket. Prices are re-read from BigCommerce, your minimum offer applies to the cart total, and a cart holding a hidden product, category or brand cannot be offered on. Accepting creates one coupon for the whole cart.
- Expiry
- Days an accepted or countered offer stays valid. Minimum 3 days.
- Minimum offer (% of product price)
- Offers below this percentage are rejected before they reach you. 0 means no minimum.
- Button text
- The words on the Make an Offer button.
- Button color
- The button background.
- Text color
- The button text colour.
- Bottom text
- Text shown at the bottom of the offer form.
- Text with the button
- Your own text on the product page with the button, only on products where the button shows. Leave it empty to show nothing.
- Show the text
- Where that text goes: Plain text above the button, In a box with the button or Next to the button.
- Box heading
- A heading for the box. Only used with In a box with the button. When both buttons show together they share one box with both texts in it.
Where the button appears
Storefront Removes the Make an Offer button from the products, categories or brands you choose.
By default the button shows on every product. Most stores restrict it: offers make sense on high-margin or slow-moving lines and rarely on everything.
- Hide Make an Offer button For Products
- Products that should never take offers. Search by product name or SKU to find them.
- Hide Make an Offer button For Categories
- Whole categories excluded from offers.
- Hide Make an Offer button For Brands
- Brands excluded from offers. Useful where a supplier enforces minimum advertised pricing.
Hidden Products
Storefront Hides the products you tick. Check one on your live store after saving.
Hidden Products is a page under Tools. Choose a category and select Load, tick the products to hide under Tick products to hide, then select Save. Select All Products ticks the whole category.
Price Match
How it works
Storefront Adds the Price Match button and its form to product pages.
A Price Match button lets customers tell you where they have seen the product cheaper. The request includes the competitor's price and link, so you can check it before deciding.
Price Match settings
Storefront Changes the Price Match button, its popup and where it appears.
- Enable Price Match.
- The master switch for price matching.
- Limit the requested quantity to available stock.
- Shoppers cannot request more than you have.
- Combine a customer's accepted requests into a single cart.
- Accepted requests from the same email address are checked out together in one cart.
- Minimum offer (% of product price)
- Price Match has its own minimum, set the same way as for Make an Offer.
- Hide price match button
- Products that should not show Price Match. Search by product name or SKU.
- Hide Price Match button For Categories
- Categories where price matching should not be offered.
Price Match also has Enable product upload dropzone., Show phone number box., Show stock count next to SKU., Expiry, Button text, Button color, Text color, Bottom text, Text with the button, Show the text and Box heading. They work as described under Make an Offer settings.
Working the request queue
Requests
Storefront Nothing. It is your team's working queue.
Every offer and price match lands on the Requests page. Each row shows the product with its SKU and quantity, the customer, the offer, when it was made and its status. Select a row to open it.
Use the status buttons along the top to filter: All, Pending, Accepted, Counter sent, Opened, Completed, Declined, Expired and Archived. A banner counts the offers waiting on you, with a Review them button. Export CSV downloads the list.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting on you. The row says Needs a decision. |
| Accepted | You accepted. The customer has a single-use coupon and checkout link. |
| Counter Sent | You sent your own price. The customer can accept it or reply once. |
| Opened | The customer opened the checkout link but has not bought yet. |
| Completed | The customer bought at the agreed price. The row shows the order number. |
| Declined | You turned the offer down. No coupon was issued. |
| Expired | The coupon ran out before it was used. |
Find a request
Storefront Nothing. It only changes what you see.
The search box reads Search customer, product, SKU or offer number. It searches your whole request history, not just the rows already loaded. Beside it, choose a type (All types, Make an Offer, Price Match) and a sort order: Newest first, Oldest first, Expiring soonest, Highest offer or Thinnest margin.
Margin and the pricing sum
Storefront Nothing. It helps you judge an offer.
Each row shows the offer as a line total, the list price with the percentage off, and your margin. Open a row for the Pricing sum: List price, They offered, You countered, Discount and Cost price, ending in a Margin pill.
- Green: a healthy margin.
- Amber: a margin under 15%.
- Red: at or below cost. The row says how far below cost.
- No cost price: the product has no cost price in BigCommerce, so no margin is shown. Add one to see it.
Timeline
Storefront Nothing. It records what happened to the request.
An open request shows its Timeline: Offer submitted, You sent a counter offer, You accepted the offer, You declined the offer, Customer opened the checkout link, Customer purchased and Offer expires or Offer expired. Messages are quoted under each event. A time is shown only where one was recorded.
Beside it you also get the customer's contact details, the product image, SKU, selected options, stock (with Refresh), the competitor link on a price match, and an Internal note that is never sent to the customer.
Responding to an offer
Storefront Nothing on the storefront, but each option emails the customer.
- Accept at (price)
- Agrees the price. The customer is emailed a single-use coupon and checkout link, with an optional message from you.
- Send a counter offer
- Its own action, separate from Decline. Enter your price per item and an optional message. The customer gets a coupon for your price, not theirs.
- Decline
- Turns the offer down. The customer is emailed and no coupon is issued. A message explaining why helps.
Once an offer is live you can use Resend checkout link, Send a new counter offer (on a Counter Sent request, which is how you send a second counter) or Withdraw. On a Completed request, View order opens the BigCommerce order.
Archive and restore
Storefront Nothing. The customer is told nothing.
Archive files a request away without declining it. Archived requests leave every count and appear under Archived, where Restore brings them back. They keep the status they had, but an archived request has no Accept, Counter or Decline buttons until you restore it.
Erase personal data
Storefront Nothing. It cleans up a stored request.
For a GDPR erasure request, open the shopper's request and select Erase personal data. It is offered once the request is Declined, Completed, Expired or archived. The name becomes Erased, the email address is replaced, and the message, phone number and any uploaded file are removed. A line is added to your internal note. This cannot be undone.
Paid-offer email
Storefront Nothing. It is an email to your team.
When a customer pays for an accepted offer, the request moves to Completed and you get an email titled Offer #id purchased (order #number). It names the product, the offer, the customer and the order. It goes to your store email and the address set under New Offer Email Notification.
What your customer sees
Offer status page
Storefront Customers get a page for their offer, linked from your emails with View your offer status.
The page shows the product, quantity, Your offer, the Store's counter offer if there is one, when it expires, and your message. The status is one of Pending, Accepted, Counter Sent, Declined, Expired or Completed.
- On an accepted offer, Add to cart goes to checkout at the agreed price.
- On a counter offer, Accept counter offer does the same at your price.
- Or Send counter offer: the customer can reply once with a lower price and a note of up to 500 characters. It must sit below your counter and above your minimum offer. The request then returns to Pending for you to answer.
Expiry reminders
Storefront Customers get one email before an unused offer runs out.
When an accepted, opened or countered offer is within 24 hours of expiry, the customer is emailed one reminder, with the status page link. Each offer is reminded once.
Configuration

Storefront Nothing on the storefront. Changes how offer emails are sent and who is notified.
- New Offer Email Notification
- Emails your team when a request arrives, and when an offer is paid for. Worth leaving on, as offers go cold quickly.
- Subject Prefix
- Text at the start of every offer email subject, so requests are easy to filter in a shared inbox.
- Offer BCC
- An address blind-copied on offer emails, for a sales archive or CRM drop-box.
- Enable Global Reply To
- Sends replies to one address rather than the assigned user.
- Enable Global Send From
- Sends every offer email from one address.
To send from your own domain, choose a provider in the second Email Settings panel or enter your SMTP details, then use Test email to check them.
Request distribution
Storefront Nothing. It decides which of your users owns each request.
- Load balanced
- Requests go to the sales rep with the fewest, so they even out.
- No assignment
- Requests arrive unassigned. A rep who edits one is then assigned it.
Product sync
Storefront Offers are checked against current catalogue prices.
Product sync pulls your catalogue into the app so offers are checked against current prices. The first sync runs at installation and repeats every 24 hours, picking up new and changed products.
Store information
Storefront Nothing on the storefront. These details print on offer documents and emails.
Your company name, address, contact details and tax ID, used on offer documents and emails. Fill this in before going live.
Custom CSS
Storefront Your CSS is applied to the offer buttons and form for all customers.
Adds your own CSS to the storefront offer buttons and form so they match your theme. Raise a ticket if you would rather we did it.
Your account
Users
Storefront Nothing. It controls app access and request distribution.
Manage Users controls who can access the app and who takes part in request distribution. Invite colleagues by email address; they set their own password. Roles are Admin, Manager and Sales Rep.
Payments
Storefront Indirectly. If a payment fails the offer buttons stop displaying until the invoice is settled.
The Payments page shows your card (Replace the saved card), the Store and its billing state, Your package and every charge under Invoices. Update the card here after a failed payment to bring the app back online.
